Mariners End Season 20 - 2

Junior League baseball season
ended Saturday, June 21, with
the annual awards ceremony
and the championship games
at Stenzel Park. The Ty Cobb
division Mariners ended the
season with the best record in
the league with 20 wins and
only two losses.

All Stars Will Compete In State Championships

Dodgers Beat Warriors in Mill Valley, 11-3

The Washington Manor
Dodgers broke out in the fourth
inning and beat the Bay Area
Warriors, 11-3, in a 9-inning game on Sunday in Mill Valley.
Mike DeBone-Tenorio hit a
2-run double in the fourth and
went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead
the Dodgers. The Babe Ruth
League team of 17- to - 19-yearolds
improved their record to 19-
4-1 for the season.

GLADDING, Joy L. - JONES, Gary Wayne - KING, Emilie Zinck - SIMMONS, Willa Elizabeth
KING, Emilie Zinck, who
lived in Castro Valley for many
years, died Wednesday, June 25,
2008 at age 97. Mrs. King was
born in Medina, North Dakota
and was the daughter of German
farmers who emigrated from
Ukraine.

Young Track Star in National Rankings

In her first year of running
track, eight-year-old Allanah Lee
of the Castro Valley Track Club
(Sub-Bantam) took first place in
the 800 m. in the Pacific Association
Youth Sub-Bantam Track
& Field Championships Saturday
at Granada High School.
Allanah’s time was an outstanding
2.59.11, ranking at the
14th fastest time in the nation out
of 2,112 athletes.

Babe Ruth League Champion Orioles Open in the TOC with a 2-1 Victory

The Castro Valley Orioles,
opened the Babe Ruth District 5
Tournament of Champions , with
a 2-1 victory over the Fremont
Giants Friday evening at Castro
Valley High School.
In what turned out to be a
pitchers duel, Matt Narahara
turned in a complete game, and
although the Orioles managed
only two hits for the game, it
turned out to be enough to secure
the win.
